Hey y'all!
It's officially official. I'm back on Insta. You can find me here ---> @bloomintobeautiful
A lot of you babes have already tracked me down either via name search or my personal IG! I love that! Thank you so much for supporting this little blog of mine and hanging on for dear life as I take us on a roller coaster! ;)

If you're going to be a college freshman... let me give you some advice. To be honest, my first semester of college was completely insane. I learned a lot and I grew, but if I could go back, there are definitely some things I would have changed! I've put together three tips that I think every college freshman should know before they even step on campus.

1. Don't take out student loans
I know, I know, I know. You've probably heard it a million times from fifty different people... but let me tell you... they are the most horrible thing you could ever accept! At the time, you think, "Oh perfect. I can live off of my loans and not have to work while I'm in school." But babe... let me tell you. This is only going to cause you financial strain in the future when you have to begin to pay off those thousands of dollars in student loan debt. My advice? Save. Work and pay out of pocket for your tuition. This may mean only going to school part-time and living off campus - but that's okay - you will be grateful you chose to do that in the future. You may even get some amazing financial aid, grants, or scholarships - which is the dream! - and if you do, then you can attend full-time with a part-time job to pay for the other expenses. Plan for your future - it's the smart thing to do!

2. Studying over Netflix binging
Netflix hadn't been around for maybe six months when I first started college. Can you imagine? Oh, how I longed to just binge watch my favorite shows and movies instead of study late at night. I've had a few F's in my college career and each one resulted from putting something else above studying. When you're in college, besides attending class, studying should be your number one priority. I'm not saying don't have any fun but put your studying first and then go hang out with your gal pals / boyfriend. There are so many great studying methods out there too! I suggest looking some up on Pinterest - or if you want to know mine, I am happy to share them with you!

3. Get out of your dorm room and meet people
I know I just told you to not put other things before studying... but you can still have fun afterwards! One of my biggest regrets of my freshman year was that I didn't get out much! I wish I would have joined a club or went to more social gatherings in my free time. I'm a pretty shy person - well, I was at that time in my life - and I have a hard time putting myself out there. I know, I'm basically writing my every thought and feeling on the internet... you got me... but it's different! So when you want to just hermit away in your dorm room, remember that there are so many opportunities just beyond that door - so many friends and connections you could be making that may change your future forever! You can do it!

I know these aren't the greatest of tips... BUT I have to say these would be the top three I would have wanted someone to tell me before I made that leap into college life. You live and you learn... so you're still going to make mistakes... and that's okay! But you will grow from them and may be someday you'll be telling college freshman your tips. ;)

Thanks for reading!
