Hey girl, hey!

Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! We live away from our family, and with Covid, we didn’t get to see our mommas yesterday. However, we both got to call them and enjoy a beautiful day on our patio. Cheers to all you mamas!

Today I am sharing five benefits of having plants in your home! I have became a major plant lover in the past year. Not only for how pretty they are but also for all of the amazing benefits to having them!

  1. Clean the Air

A big benefit of having plants in your home is that they help clean the air! They absorb the toxins in the air, increase humidity, and produce oxygen. These are all things we could benefit from. Our homes can be letting out toxins that we aren’t even aware of - especially older homes - and plants will help combat that for you.

  2. Improve Mental Health
Plant create a positive environment which makes us feel relaxed and safe. They also boost mood, productivity, concentration, and creativity. They will help reduce stress by bringing nature into your living space. Just as going outdoors helps use with our mental health, having plants in your home (bringing the outdoors inside) will also help when staying home.

  3. They help boost your immune system

This was one that I wasn’t aware of until recently! With everything going on around us, I knew I needed to research how we can all build our immune systems in natural ways. I was shocked to see having house plants on that list! Plants have phytoncides and other airborne chemicals that help reduce stress. When you feel less stressed, your immune system is boosted. This is why you’ll notice lots of plants in hospitals and doctor’s offices!

  4. They make you compassionate

This one may sound a little out there for some of you but it’s true! Caring for a plant truly makes you more compassionate. It’s another living thing we are responsible for caring for! You must water it, feed it, make sure it’s getting enough sunlight, etc. It truly think caring for another living thing - whether that’s a plant, a dog, or a child - makes you a more compassionate person.

  5. They add a beautiful decoration to your home

Of course you knew I’d have to mention their aesthetic appeal! I have loved having pops of green all over my home. I’m a huge nature lover - it’s where I feel closest to Jesus - and bringing a piece of that indoors has truly changed my mood. Seeing these beautiful plants each day, caring for them, and reaping all of the benefits they offer have been life changing.

My advice: buy a plant. I’m linking several below that you can purchase directly from Amazon like the Bird of Paradise in the background of this photo! Let me know if you are a plant mom and what kind of plants you have! I’m always looking for more!
