Hey girl,

I’m sure you’ve heard of shaving your face by now. If not, let me introduce you to your new best friend! I have been shaving my face for about six months and cannot express how much it has helped my skin. You’re probably wondering how taking hair off of your face helps your skin, right? I mean, I did. Let me explain the science and process below to you by answering questions you all had about this!

  1. Does it hurt?

No! There is no pain at all in the process of using this particular tool! I used to wax my lip and chin - girl, that hurt! This is literally pain free!

  2. Will my hair grow back darker and thicker?

Absolutely not! Shaving your face cuts hair off at the surface which gives it a more blunt edge. Plucking or waxing removes the hair from the root which makes it grow back with a tapered edge. AKA your hair will grow back normal.

  3. How does this help with my skincare?

When you shave your face, besides removing the nasty hair that’s blocking your pores, it also removes dead skin cells (gross) and exfoliates. This allows your skincare products to really soak into your skin. Long term effects are that your skincare will actually be working but you’ll also be able to use less product which saves you money!

  4. How will this help my makeup routine?

Shaving your face helps your makeup to apply much smoother! The makeup isn’t having to fight through all of the peach fuzz on your face. Therefore, it applies smooth and you’ll actually have to blend less too!

  5. How often should I shave?

I prefer to shave weekly! I want to know that my skincare and makeup is going to work exactly how I want it to. You could opt to shave bi-weekly though if you prefer!

  6. What are the steps for shaving my face?

Step one: remove all makeup! I prefer to use this cleansing balm from Beautycounter over wipes. I’ll do a post soon on why you shouldn’t be using makeup remover wipes for those of you that are curious!

Step two: apply a facial mask! I prefer to use a mask on my skin twice per week. Before shaving my face, I apply this charcoal facial mask from Beautycounter. It leaves your skin feeling so nice and fresh!

Step three: shave time! I use this flawless facial hair remover to shave my face. You could also opt for actual facial shaving razors but I think they are messy and more time consuming. This tool makes it quick and no mess! Use the tool in slow, circular motions!

Step four: moisturize your face! I love the Tula Hydrating Day & Night Cream. You can use code BLOOM for 20% off until February 1st - then it will give you 15% off!
